Updated: Feb 15, 2022

Getting your home ready for winter can be overwhelming! Here are some of the most helpful quick tips as you are getting ready for the polar vortex.

  • Bring in all patio furniture and store in a place that isn't exposed to the elements and/or water.

  • Turn off and/or winterize outside faucet, and store hose. Purchasing a faucet sock is an option or you can buy and install an insulated faucet at local hardware store.

  • Clean out gutters and make sure they are flowing water away from the house.

  • Updates and repairs to keep home energy efficient. Call a local provider and ask if they have a free energy evaluation.

  • Here is link to DTE energy evaluation and also Consumer Energy rebate on a Nest (App controlled thermostat) for your home. That evaluation will help you prioritize what needs to be done first and are the most cost effective.

Until next time,
