At The Better Co., our mission is to create a positive impact in our local community.
Here are our events that we run to actively contribute to our favorite local non-profits.
Kate DeCavitte is the director of events for Northville Athletix's Amrap4Autism, the signature event for the national recognized Autism Strong Foundation. This foundation helps to provide support for families with Autism across the country. Also her event Amrap4Autism donates to the local charity the Living in Learning center in downtown Northville where her autistic son receives services. The Living and Learning Center’s campus focuses on providing camps, therapy, work experience and placement , most importantly it creates a community for young adults with special needs. Kate also runs the Amrap4Autism CrossFit silent auction, showcasing local small businesses and donates 100% of the proceeds directly to the Living and Learning Center to provide scholarships to families looking for services right here in metro Detroit area. Kate has run this event for several years raising over $35,000 dollars for families like her own with special needs.
Bethany A. Reyes sits on the board of this metro Detroit non-profit that makes the sport of CrossFit accessible to the youth of Detroit, teaching them the benefits of hard work and discipline all while creating an inviting community atmosphere with the goal of of creating mentally and physically stronger kids. This year, The Better Co. was able to raise $1,500 and donate multiple pieces of equipment for the kids.
Heather Shaun serves as an Ambassador for Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. A National 501(c)3 based out of Williston, FL. Heather aids with fundraising opportunities to help place highly trained service dogs into the hands of our high risk veteran community. Each dog costs $25,000 to train and in 12 yrs they have paired 384 dogs with veterans across the United States.
