Time To Upgrade Or Downsize Your Home?

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

How to manage the sale of your current home and purchase of your next home.

There are key points to consider when you are getting ready to sell your current home and purchase a new one!

Timing

Evaluate your life and the market to determine the best plan for you and your family to put the house up for sale.

- When is your preferred move in date?

- Do you want time to paint or renovate in the new house before you move in?

I can help you figure out the appropriate time to list your home and buy considering all of these variables.

Downsizing or Upsizing

If you are “downsizing” or “upsizing” it’s important to think about the items in your home.

- Are you going to want to transfer them to your next house?

- Will the items fit the next space?

If not, then considering selling or storing them. The less stuff in your current home the better for staging purposes.

Mortgage

Finding out what you are pre-approved for on the purchase of your second home is very important. Some people can qualify for a mortgage without selling their current home first and others have to close on their current home in order to close on the new house. This is a combination of your debt to income ratio, money in savings, etc. I strongly suggest that you have a trusted Mortgage consultant to guide you through this process.
